Emily Vocu - Forensic Scientist, Latent Print Section

Emily Vocu is a forensic scientist with the Virginia Department of Forensic Science. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biophysical Sciences degree from Regent University and a Master of Forensic Science degree from Stevenson University. She began her career working as a Forensic Specialist with the Hampton Police Division, where she responded to and processed major crime scenes. During this time, Emily began delving into the latent print discipline and eventually became a latent print examiner with the division in which she assisted in the examination of latent prints collected from crime scenes and deceased individuals for identification purposes. In 2024, she accepted a position with the Virginia Department of Forensic Science Eastern Laboratory in their latent print section, where she is able to use her love of the discipline to support the department’s mission in advancing the understanding of forensic science to promote public safety.
