Program by Poet Kween Yakini features poetry, storytelling, music, and visuals, exploring the power of storytelling in Black American history.
"Telling Our Stories: Black American History Celebration", is a program that has been written and developed by Award Winning Author Sharran C. Taylor, A.K.A. Poet Kween Yakini. This presentation will include original poetry, storytelling, visual imagery and music. At the end of the presentation there will be a short Q & A. Contents of this program will focus on the Ancestors of our past and also about the people we are today. It is my hope that this presentation will give more insight into why art of storytelling was chosen by the ancestors, and the impact that it had on Black American life. Audience members will hopefully walk away with a better appreciation of Storytelling and how it has been a valuable tool for Black people throughout history. Because the truth is that we all have a story to tell, and my hope is that this program will inspire others to tell their stories too.
