Live your manga fantasy! Learn how to create your own manga with Virginia Manga Hub who will teach you everything from characters and crafting expressions to story ideas, layouts, and page design.
VA Manga Hub is a creative collective of artists and storytellers from Eastern Virginia. This engaging session is based on the renowned workbook by Christopher Hart, known for making manga art accessible to beginners and fun for all. Whether you're a curious newcomer or an aspiring manga artist, this workshop is your gateway into the expressive world of manga drawing.
The workshop schedule features a mix of structured lessons and creative exercises. We’ll start with a warm welcome and an overview of the VA Manga Hub’s mission — bringing manga education and publishing opportunities to local communities. From there, you’ll jump into a fun warmup called Decode the Page, followed by three-five guided lessons: drawing expressive manga eyes, mastering manga head shapes and face proportions, and a deep dive into manga hair design basics. Each lesson builds your skills while encouraging experimentation and creativity. We’ll wrap up the day by sharing our creations and offering feedback in a supportive, welcoming environment. You’ll leave with sketches, inspiration, and maybe even a few new friends in the manga scene. VA Manga Hub is more than a workshop — it’s a movement. Focused on art education, storytelling, and building community, we’re bringing the future of manga to Virginia, one story at a time.
